The Silverdale Hospital set a goal of achieving an energy use index (EUI) less than 100 kBtu/sf-yr for its new 500,000 square foot acute care facility. As designed, the project is predicted to have a EUI of 98.2 kBtu/sf-yr. The project meets this ambitious target through the use of a heat recovery chiller coupled with heat recovery from exhaust air, enhanced insulation, aggressive HVAC controls, and advanced lighting design and controls.
